Dr. Saër Maty Bâ was culture rights’ first visiting research fellow 2006-7 Dr. Saër Maty Bâ became a cr visiting research fellow at the UEL School (SSMCS). He recently completed a PhD in Film Studies from Exeter University. He has an extensive teaching and research career, with expertise in Black British, African-American Film Studies, and Post-Colonial Francophone Cinema subject areas, and committed to the intersection between theory and practice. During his time at UEL, Saër undertook research of the specialist library collections at the UEL Docklands library. He was also guest speaker to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and research seminars on race, media and film studies. He was also involved in developing the culture rights network and website. Saër is currently co-organising the conference 'Re-presenting diasporas in cinema and new digital media' in July 2007 with contributions from Hamid Naficy and other cr members. The second cr research fellow for 2008-9 will be announced in December 2008.
